  • Maintenance apprentice

    Maintenance apprentices work across all Trust sites to maintain our buildings. With the support of the wider maintenance team, they carry out installations, equipment testing, and repairs.

    As a maintenance apprentice, you will learn about the different maintenance roles the Trust offers whilst being supported to achieve your Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative apprenticeship qualification. 

    Typical duties include:

    • using IT systems to generate, receive and communicate a range of information
    • being responsible for tools and equipment
    • testing equipment to check for faults 

    Career pathway

    To qualify for this apprenticeship, we expect good literacy and numeracy skills with GCSE’s A-C/9-4 or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. 

    You will also need to have a full UK driver’s license or be willing to work towards this. 

    Once you have completed the apprenticeship, you may be able to join us in a full-time position as a Maintenance Assistant.

  • Maintenance assistant

    Maintenance assistants are responsible for the upkeep of our sites across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull. They carry out installations, equipment testing, and repairs to ensure our sites remain safe. 

    Typical duties include:

    • using IT systems to generate, receive and communicate information
    • supporting the planning and prioritisation of work daily
    • moving equipment and furniture if needed
    • being responsible for tools and equipment
    • testing equipment to check for faults
    • carrying out repairs and other work requests.

    Career pathway

    To become a maintenance assistant you will need to have a relevant Level 2 qualification or maintenance experience. If you do not possess these qualifications, you may be suitable for the maintenance apprenticeship route instead.

    You will also need to have a full UK driver’s license.

  • Tradespeople

    • Carpenter

      As a Carpenter you will be involved in the design, cutting, repairs, and construction of different types of furniture for all Trust properties across the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

      Typical duties may include:

      • using IT systems to generate, receive and communicate a range of routine information
      • preparing wood construction projects 
      • identifying and ordering building materials
      • assembling floorboards, doorframes, cabinets, stairway railings, and other fixtures.

      Career pathway

      To be a carpenter you will need a carpentry related Level 3 qualification or significant carpentry experience. You will also need to have a full UK driver’s license.  

      There is potential for an existing member of staff to complete a Level 3/4 Advanced Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship within Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, please contact talentforcare@covwarkpt.nhs.uk for further information.

    • Plumber

      Plumbers work across all of our sites and are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repairs of pipework in every building.

      Typical duties may include:

      • understanding and following blueprints or building plans to install and maintain pipework
      • using IT systems to generate, receive and communicate a range of routine information, and complete work orders
      • installing, maintaining, and repairing pipes including joins, values, drains, and fixtures.

      Career pathway

      To be a plumber you will need a Level 3 plumbing related qualification and significant experience. You will also need a full UK driver’s license.

    • Electrician

      Electricians install and repair electrical power systems across our sites in Coventry and Warwickshire.

      Typical duties may include:

      • using IT systems to generate, receive and communicate a range of routine information, and complete work orders
      • installing and maintaining electrical systems and components, including fuses, lights, and wiring
      • conducting electrical inspections, tests, and identifying issues

      Career pathway

      To be an electrician you will need a Level 3 electrician related qualification and significant experience. You will also need a full UK driver’s license.

    • Builder

      Builders are responsible for the main areas of construction for all buildings in our Trust and ensure that they are fit for purpose.

      Typical duties may include:

      • preparing building materials and equipment that are needed for small or big building repairs
      • using IT systems to generate, receive and communicate information, and complete work orders
      • overseeing a range of construction projects that include repairs and renovation.

      Career pathway

      To be a builder you will need to have a relevant Level 3 qualification and significant experience. You will also need a full UK driver’s license.

    • Painter/Decorator

      Painters and decorators carry out skilled painting and decorating work in our facilities to create a vibrant environment for the benefit of all visitors to our sites.

      Typical duties include:

      • painting and redecoration work such as wallpapering, painting and varnishing
      • using IT systems to generate, receive and communicate information, and complete work orders
      • identifying hazards and addressing repair and redecoration needs.

      Career pathway

      To be a painter/ decorator you will need a Level 3 related qualification and significant experience. You'll also need a full UK driver’s license.
